Bottle or Tap?

This is a question most people can immediately answer…and the most likely reason they choose bottled water is because it is “safer” than tap water…or is it? That’s the question we are here to uncover today!

If we asked…

Dasani

Aquafina

Smart Water

Fiji

Evian

You’d probably be able to tell us which brand of bottled water is your favorite…But do you know if your favorite brand is testing their water and what purification processes they have?

Uncapping The Bottled Up Secrets

People say they choose to stay away from tap water because of all the issues surrounding local water systems. Just look on the news or on social media and you will see topic after topic.

What we don’t see is that bottled water is actually LESS regulated than the water that comes out of your faucets.  Why don’t we see that? Because big brands have incredible marketing. They are able to promote their products with cool shaped bottles, fancy labels, wording like “spring, pure, natural, artisanal, mineral, alkaline, etc”, to capture the eye of the consumer and effectively trick them into thinking that they are drinking anything other than tap water.  We aren’t saying ALL bottled water brands do this, but research has shown that a majority of the most popular brands don’t test their water as regularly or as intensely as a local or state run water treatment system.  Harmful chemicals like PFAs (see our blog about PFAS) , heavy metals, VOC (volatile organic compounds) microplastics, may be found in your favorite bottled water and long term exposure to the above can cause health issues.

Yes, you read that right…most of the time your tap water is cleaner than your bottled water.

However, there are some water basics we need to discuss and caveats to that statement that we are going to break down.

Tap Into Tap Water

Yes, a majority of the time local, city and state water is more heavily regulated and tested compared to bottled water.  But there are still issues with tap water as it makes its way from the water treatment plant to your faucet.

There are some communities that experience higher lead content in their drinking water, and as you are probably aware, Texas has some of the hardest water in the United States. Tap water can also contain high levels of chlorine, mineral content, and also be susceptible to issues with pipe corrosion that can introduce contaminants. In some cases, tap water may also include byproducts from agriculture.

What we are saying is that there isn’t a clear winner between the age old Bottle vs. Tap debate.

BUT

There is a solution to get the best, and purest drinking water on the planet! Water filtration and purification systems, which are installed in your home to give you the freshest drinking water you didn’t realize you needed.

So it’s time to grab your Stanley cup and get ready

Drink The Difference, Sip by Sip

When we install one of our whole home systems you’ll quickly find that all of those chemicals and contaminants we listed above are eliminated, giving you fresh, pure water that is unmatched by even the fanciest bottle of water.

H20 Info: Did you know that a $2.00 bottle of water is basically the equivalent to the amount you would spend on 1,000 gallons of water from your tap? How’s that for savings?

This type of filtration system is especially beneficial in Texas homes because it also removes minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc and these minerals are in hard water.

Not only will you have clean drinking water, you’ll no longer need to use single use water bottles (Great for the environment) AND you’ll have a better water experience throughout your entire home.  Your hair, skin, body and even your laundry, appliances and dishware will reap the benefits of cleaner, filtered water.

Can you see the winner of this battle now? It’s pretty clear (pun intended) that home water filtration and purification systems are SUPERIOR to both tap water and bottled water.
