Methane in Well Water

Methane will escape from the water when the pressure is released or when the water is heated. Depending on the amount of methane and pressure, some gas will often separate from the water in a pressure tank or a hot water heater. It is not uncommon to have this gas “spurt” out of household water taps. Gas will also build up in the tank and escape into water lines.

Sulfates In WaterSulfates are often found in agricultural regions and also occur in soils and rock where they are susceptible to dissolution into groundwater. Sulfates and nitrates often occur together in groundwater and respond similarly to treatment practices. Unlike nitrates, sulfates do not cause any serious health problems; diarrhea is normally the worst concern.


Silt / Sediment
