Look What’s Happening…

Have you ever turned on your sink faucet and discovered the water a brown color or has a weird odor? Maybe you’ve experienced a period of time where your city is under a “boil water” advisory? Are you aware and educated about PFAs, and other contaminants that could be polluting your drinking water due to recent events?

If you live in the DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) area of Texas, then you’re most likely not a stranger to the above scenarios.

These issues are not something to take lightly because clean water is essential to life. If your water is polluted, contaminated or otherwise unsuitable for drinking or washing, you can’t carry on with many daily tasks, and it can become a major hindrance if the issue lasts for longer than a day!

You don’t want to be heading off to the store to buy gallons of water or boiling it every time it happens.

So let’s talk about some of the recent water problems in DFW and how we can help provide a simple solution so you won’t have to worry about these problems!

Water Main Break in Lewisville

In February of this year (2025), the city of Lewisville, Texas experienced a Boil Water Advisory and closed 21 of its schools for the day.

Water main breaks mean that sewage, contaminants and other potentially dangerous bacteria can enter into your water supply. Drinking this water can cause illnesses, infections and affect those who are immunocompromised.

When a water break like this happens, you are highly advised to use bottled water or boil your water (follow CDC or emergency safety guidelines to properly sterilize your water). They even advise you to do this if you have products like a filtration pitcher or over the faucet filtration system.

It can take hours or even days to properly fix and filter the line of any contaminants it might have allowed in during this break. Not only is this inconvenient it means that you might not have quality drinking water for days.

Improper City Water Testing

You would think that with water being a key to survival, cities and states would make safe drinking water a high priority for their residents.

Unfortunately, the testing and water quality issues in White Settlement, Texas, has proved that it isn’t as high on the list as it should be. For several years there have been issues that involved radioactive contaminants, high levels of lead and even E.coli.

When you rely on the city and your state to provide you with quality potable water, you shouldn’t have to deal with water quality issues and contamination problems year after year.

Forever Chemicals Found and Lawsuits Filed

The city of Dallas filed lawsuits against major chemical companies stating that they manufactured PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) and used it in the production of Aqueous Film-Forming Foam, a common fire suppressant used by fire departments.

As the foam was used, it would be absorbed into the area and obviously washed away with the water, which ultimately means it got into the groundwater system used by many residents in Texas.

Dallas, Fort Worth, and other cities alike are suing 3M, DuPont, and similar chemical companies for endangering the health of their residents and causing harm to the environment, and the potential environmental impact that these “forever chemicals” may pose.
